Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) central vice president and former provincial home minister Mir Ziaullah Langau on Tuesday visited the Trauma Centre at Civil Hospital Quetta to inquire after those injured in the suicide bombing near Shahwani Stadium on Sariab Road.
The attack, which targeted a rally organised by the Balochistan National Party (BNP), left at least 15 dead and dozens injured. Langau was briefed by the hospital’s medical director and senior doctors on the condition of the injured and the medical response underway.
Speaking to reporters following his visit, Mir Zia Langau strongly condemned the attack and said that targeting innocent civilians was a reprehensible act. “Terrorists who target innocent people do not deserve any leniency,” he said, adding that such incidents were aimed at spreading fear and obstructing the province’s development.
He said the people of Balochistan had always stood firm in the face of such threats and would continue to defeat any attempts to destabilise the region. “With unity and resilience, the people of this province will foil all conspiracies,” he added.
Describing the incident as a national tragedy, Mr Langau extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and expressed solidarity with the affected families. “We share the grief of the bereaved families and pray for the swift recovery of the injured,” he said.
