Three girls drown in Ziarat’s Man Zarghi Dam

An incident occurred in Ziarat district on Saturday when three girls drowned in the Man Zarghi Dam. Rescue teams managed to save two of the girls, while the body of the third was recovered after an extended search operation.

The two rescued individuals include 16-year-old Bibi Aqeeda, daughter of Muhammad Afzal, and 26-year-old Bibi Najma, wife of Muhammad Jameel. Both were promptly shifted to the DHQ Hospital Ziarat for medical attention. Unfortunately, 22-year-old Bibi Rubina, daughter of Muhammad Hashim, lost her life during the rescue effort.

Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Zakaullah Durrani, shared that murky waters and the dam’s unstable depths severely hindered the rescue operation.

Local authorities reported that the three girls were at the dam site to collect debris that had accumulated after recent flash floods. Officials reminded the public that the provincial government had previously issued a weather advisory urging residents to exercise caution during the ongoing monsoon season.

Once again, the district administration has appealed to residents to avoid visiting hazardous or unprotected water bodies to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
