In response to the recent wave of terrorist attacks targeting passenger buses in Balochistan, including the Zhob massacre on July 11 and the Qalat bus shooting on July 16, authorities have issued strict new security directives for public transport operating in the Surab and Zhob regions.
According to an official notification, the Assistant Commissioner of Surab has ordered all public transport operators to implement the following safety measures without delay:
Deployment of two armed guards on every passenger bus
Installation of GPS tracking systems
Functional emergency alarms inside the vehicles
CCTV cameras for real-time surveillance and evidence collection
“These steps are essential to protect innocent lives and restore public confidence in intercity travel,” the Assistant Commissioner stated, adding that transporters must comply by July 20, or face strict legal action.

The directive follows the Zhob attack, where terrorists kidnapped and executed nine passengers based on identity, and the Qalat attack, where armed men opened fire on a bus, killing three and injuring 14, including members of a Qawwali group.
Authorities say these cowardly attacks by groups linked to Fitna-ul-Hindustan highlight the urgent need for enhanced transport security. The new measures aim to ensure safer travel for civilians in high-risk zones of the province.
