Nabeel Arman, an English Literature graduate from NUML arrested and later released.

Nabeel Arman, son of Ali and a resident of Siagazi, Awaran, is a graduate of the National University of Modern Languages (English Literature). He is a former member of the Baloch Students Council (BSC) Islamabad and Baloch Student Organization–Azad, a banned outfit. He was allegedly arrested by security forces yesterday from Islamabad. However he was released today.

Following his arrest, several social media accounts linked with the promotional propaganda of the banned terrorist outfit Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed that Nabeel Arman had been forcibly disappeared.

Who is Nabeel Arman?

On social media, Nabeel Arman is described as a writer, translator, and poet, and a graduate of the National University of Modern Languages (English Literature). Many accounts termed his arrest as targeting educated youth. However, sources say there are specific reasons behind his arrest.

According to sources, Nabeel Arman has been extensively translating literature of the Baloch Liberation Army, which is used to recruit and indoctrinate educated Baloch youth into militancy. He was allegedly tasked with translating, producing, and amplifying BLA propaganda material and hate literature for the recruitment of foot soldiers.

Sources say Nabeel Arman is an active member of the BLA media wing and regularly contributes extremist content to BLA-affiliated propaganda platforms on social media. His writings promote armed terrorism in Balochistan and glorify militant violence under the guise of political struggle. Such articles and literature attributed to Nabeel Arman can be found online.

Sources say Nabeel Arman is part of a recruitment strategy that was exposed earlier this year. In January, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested four terrorists, including a former university lecturer, in multiple intelligence-based operations across Balochistan.

Among those arrested was Sajid Ahmed, who held a Master’s degree in Sociology from the International Islamic University Islamabad and had previously served as a lecturer at the University of Turbat after working at Zubaida Jalal Government College.

DIG CTD Aitezaz Goraya stated in a press conference that Sajid and other arrested individuals were part of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and used its platform to radicalize youth, organize protests, spread subversive propaganda, and facilitate recruitment for armed terrorist networks. Sajid also authored extremist literature, coordinated social media propaganda, and helped induct individuals into BYC before moving them into armed groups.

Sources say similar tasks were assigned to Nabeel Arman.

In July 2025, another case surfaced during an operation codenamed Pahrod Cleanser, which targeted a high-value BLA hideout. Among those who resisted security forces with advanced weaponry was Sufiyan Kurd, also known as Chairman Sashan, who was the chairman of the Baloch Students Council at the University of Management and Technology, Lahore.

Sources say militant facilitators are allegedly operating under the guise of student activism to introduce anti-state literature in educational institutions and student councils, effectively radicalizing young minds.

They further state that Baloch Student Organization–Azad (BSO-Azad) has been repeatedly linked to similar activities and has served as a breeding ground for extremist ideologies on university campuses. Many BLA commanders have reportedly emerged from such organizations.

Sources say more names and facilitators are expected to be uncovered as investigations continue .
