Security forces continue a major operation at Wana Cadet College in South Waziristan following an attack by Afghan militants on Monday. Three terrorists have been contained in a specific building within the college, while approximately 535 individuals remain inside.
According to security sources, the building where the militants are holed up is located far from the cadets’ residential areas, ensuring the safety of all students. So far, 115 people, including cadets and staff, have been rescued safely.
The attack on November 10 involved a vehicle laden with explosives that was rammed into the college’s main gate, completely destroying it and damaging nearby structures. Pakistani army personnel responded immediately, eliminating two of the militants on the spot.
Security officials emphasized that the operation is being conducted with extreme caution to prevent harm to any cadets or staff. Cadets are being gradually evacuated from the college premises and moved to secure locations.
“The terrorists attacking innocent tribal children have no connection with Islam or Pakistan’s progress. The operation will continue until the complete elimination of all militants,” a security source said.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, and the counter-terrorism operation inside the college is ongoing.
