Students from Pak-China Vocational institute tour Gwadar port

Students from the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute recently visited Gwadar Port, hosted by China Overseas Ports Holding Company Pakistan (Pvt.). During the visit, they explored the greenhouse, desalination plant, and port area.

At the greenhouse, the students learned about seedling cultivation in controlled environments using techniques to optimize temperature, humidity, and lighting for plant growth.

The group also toured the China-aided Gwadar desalination plant, which became operational on July 23. The plant currently supplies 200 tons of water daily to Gwadar’s urban area, benefiting approximately 40,000 residents. It uses advanced reverse osmosis (RO) membrane technology, recognized for high efficiency and low energy consumption, to produce fresh water.

Assessments conducted by the Balochistan Environmental Protection Department and the project’s design team confirmed no negative impact on the local marine ecosystem. The plant’s production capacity is designed to reach 5,000 tons per day, meeting local residents’ freshwater needs and supporting future industrial development.

Additionally, the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute has admitted six batches totaling 483 students since May 2023. The institute offers programs in fields such as computer science, e-commerce, finance and accounting, port operations, and mobile phone repair.
