The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has unequivocally condemned the recent terrorist attack on a school bus in Khuzdar, Balochistan, calling it “heinous and cowardly.”
The explosion, which occurred near Zero Point in Khuzdar on May 21, 2025, targeted a school bus, claiming five lives, including three students, and injuring dozens. This act of terror drew widespread condemnation from national and international communities.
On May 22, the UNSC issued a statement extending heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and to the people and government of Pakistan. The Council also wished a swift and full recovery for those injured in the attack.

Reaffirming its unwavering stance on terrorism, the UNSC condemned such acts as “criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of motivation, location, or perpetrator.” It emphasized that terrorism remains “one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.” The statement further stressed the importance of holding all perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of such acts accountable, urging states worldwide to cooperate with Pakistan in accordance with international laws and UNSC resolutions.
The violent attack underscores the enduring threat of terrorism. Pakistan’s leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, have vowed swift justice. The government has attributed the attack to Indian-backed militants, suggesting it was a targeted act following a ceasefire agreement reached two weeks earlier to ease long-standing tensions.
During his visit to Quetta to assess the law-and-order situation, Prime Minister Sharif expressed a firm resolve to combat terrorism. He stated, “Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies will relentlessly pursue all those involved in this barbaric act.” Officials have vowed to eliminate foreign-backed terrorism and bring about a decisive resolution.
