The University of Gwadar (UoG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese company Hangeng to expand academia-industry cooperation and generate job and scholarship opportunities for students in Balochistan, according to Gwadar Pro.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting between a UoG delegation and Hangeng CEO Liao Longtai. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting youth in Gwadar through education, skills training, and employment programs as part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiatives.
“Hangeng is expanding its production capacity and will offer jobs to talented graduates from Gwadar,” Liao said, appreciating UoG’s efforts to build strong academic-industry partnerships.
Under the MoU, Hangeng will provide merit-based scholarships and collaborate with UoG to organize a Job Fair for graduates—especially from veterinary sciences, management sciences, and computer science programs. UoG Registrar Dr. Dolat Khan has been asked to coordinate once Hangeng finalizes open positions.
The meeting was attended by Musaib, Personal Secretary to the Pro-Vice Chancellor of UoG, and Hangeng Project Director Mr. Razzaq.
Boost for Technical Education in Gwadar
This partnership comes weeks after the first batch of Gwadar Technical & Vocational Institute students reached China for advanced training at the Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology (SICT). They will complete the final 18 months of their three-year diploma in China.
The program—launched in 2023 through collaboration between UoG, Gwadar Port Authority, China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHCL) and SICT—aims to build skilled manpower in Balochistan under CPEC.
Officials say these initiatives signal Gwadar’s shift toward a skilled, globally competitive workforce, opening new pathways for local youth in regional and international markets.
