Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has announced that the establishment of a campus of University of Balochistan in Islamabad, with support from China, would mark a significant step toward ensuring equal and quality higher education opportunities for students from Balochistan.
The governor shared these remarks during a meeting at the Governor House in Quetta with Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai and Amjad Rasheed. A formal proposal for the establishment of the Islamabad campus was presented during the meeting.
Consultations with Federal Bodies to Begin
Mandokhail stated that consultations would soon begin with key federal institutions, including the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Capital Development Authority, to secure land allocation and necessary approvals.
He emphasized that the initiative aims to create a permanent academic presence of Balochistan in the federal capital while promoting inter-provincial academic collaboration and harmony.
Bridging Educational Gaps for Balochistan’s Youth
The governor expressed optimism that the proposed campus would meet the standards of leading universities in Islamabad and serve as a historic milestone. He noted that the project would act as a bridge connecting the educational aspirations of Balochistan’s youth with the national academic mainstream.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the academic and research contributions of university centers and briefed the governor on the financial challenges faced by higher education institutions in the province.
Government Assures Support for Higher Education
Mandokhail appreciated the contributions of the University of Balochistan and assured full cooperation in addressing financial constraints, as well as support for the Islamabad campus initiative.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai thanked the governor for his continued efforts to promote higher education in Balochistan.
