The Jaffar Express is back on track! After a suspension following the tragic March 11 terrorist attack in Mach, the train resumed operations on Thursday, departing from Quetta Railway Station at around 9 am with over 400 passengers onboard.
To ensure passenger safety, railway officials have implemented comprehensive security measures for the Quetta to Peshawar route. The Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways confirmed that these arrangements were a top priority to protect both passengers and staff.

The suspension occurred after militants from the banned Balochistan Liberation Army hijacked the train, taking over 400 passengers hostage. Tragically, 26 passengers lost their lives in the attack, and a subsequent Pakistan Army operation resulted in the rescue of the hostages and the elimination of 33 attackers. Unfortunately, four security personnel were martyred during the operation.
To strengthen counterterrorism efforts, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested four suspects believed to be involved in the attack. This move reflects ongoing efforts to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of passengers.
The resumed service marks a significant milestone, as the Jaffar Express is vital for regional connectivity and transportation. Its return is a step toward normalcy for passengers and staff alike.
