Security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Cadet College Wana late last night, killing three Afghan TTP terrorists and preventing a potential tragedy reminiscent of the 2014 Army Public School (APS) Peshawar attack. Two other terrorists reportedly remain in the area and are under surveillance.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists belonging to Fitna al Khwarij attempted to breach the college perimeter, reportedly following instructions from Afghanistan. The attack began with a suicide explosion at the main entrance, injuring 15 civilians and four security personnel.
The injured security officials were identified as Naib Subedar Tabish, Lance Havaldar Shakeel, and soldiers Abdullah and Waqas.
“Terrorists attempted to storm the college, but their designs were swiftly foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of our troops,” the ISPR stated.
Security forces engaged the attackers promptly, killing three terrorists. A clearance and search operation continues in the surrounding area to neutralize the remaining threats.
The ISPR condemned the attack, highlighting that the Afghan TTP militants were orchestrating the assault from across the border, contradicting the Afghan Taliban regime’s claims that no such groups operate on their soil. Pakistan reserves the right to respond against terrorists and their leadership in Afghanistan, the statement added.
All staff and cadets are safe, confirmed in a video message by the students, who thanked the Pakistan Army for its swift action. “Alhamdulillah, everyone is safe,” they said, praising the troops for preventing a tragedy now being referred to as “APS 2.0.”
The Back Entrance Gate of Cadet College Wana, where the suicide bomber detonated himself, has been cleared, and the area is under tight security.
