
Three armed men were killed in a Quetta encounter with kidnappers on the city’s outskirts, police said on Sunday, confirming that the suspects belonged to a kidnapping gang operating in the region. Authorities added that weapons and a vehicle used in abductions were recovered from the scene
According to police, the encounter took place on Saturday in the Killi Khali area within the jurisdiction of the Brewery Police Station, where law enforcement officials exchanged fire with the suspects.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serious Crimes Investigation Wing Imran Qureshi told Balochistan Pulse that an investigation revealed all three men were involved in several kidnapping cases across Quetta and nearby districts.
“Two accomplices managed to escape during the exchange of fire, while a police constable was injured,” SSP Qureshi said.
He added that two of the slain suspects were identified as Nawab Ali and Ahmed Sultan, while efforts were ongoing with the help of NADRA to confirm the identity of the third suspect.
The SSP further disclosed that the gang had abducted Abdul Razzaq, the driver of the Gwadar University vice chancellor, releasing him after receiving Rs1.6 million in ransom. They also freed Bashir Ahmed, a trader from Qila Abdullah, after a ransom payment of Rs8 million, and Irfan Baig, a resident of Quetta, following a Rs10 million ransom payment.
Police recovered weapons and a vehicle used in the abductions from the scene.
According to officials, the suspects were wanted in two cases at Sadar Police Station, three at Jinnah Town Police Station, and one at Industrial Police Station.
