Terrorists attacked police and Levies stations in Balochistan’s Shirani district late Monday night, killing one police constable and one Levies personnel, while injuring six others.
According to Deputy Commissioner Shirani, the attackers also damaged the communication system of the stations during the assault. An emergency was declared at Civil Hospital Zhob to treat the injured personnel.
Shirani district, which lies along the border of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has witnessed multiple attacks on police stations by militants in the past.
The incident comes days after security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt by the outlawed outfit Fitna al Khwarij on August 7 and 9 in the Sambaza border area of Balochistan.
During the operation, Pakistani troops killed 47 terrorists, most of them Afghan nationals, as they attempted to cross the border. The ISPR stated that many of the bodies fell on the Afghan side of the border.
Pakistan has repeatedly warned Kabul against allowing terrorist groups to use Afghan soil for cross-border attacks. Islamabad has demanded that the Afghan authorities curb such activities and stop providing safe havens to militants targeting Pakistan.
