State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced on Friday that the government is prepared to work with Balochistan’s leaders to resolve the province’s long-standing issues.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he noted that although a protest is currently underway in the Red Zone, authorities have been providing security and support. “The government, along with the district administration, has been in continuous contact with the protesters, trying to address their concerns through proper channels,” he stated.
Talal Chaudhry mentioned that while the protest began with specific goals, some individuals have occasionally used it for personal or political gain. “We remain in dialogue with the protesters and are ready to engage with them on a comprehensive plan to address their lawful demands,” he said. He also pointed to past efforts to address these issues, including discussions with political parties and the Prime Minister’s Committee on Balochistan.
Regarding missing persons,Talal Chaudhry clarified that there are nearly 2,000 registered cases, which are closely monitored by a commission. He emphasized that the government does not permit actions outside the law and that the issue should not be politicized.
He also addressed security concerns, stating that holding political gatherings without clearance creates “soft targets” like markets and public spaces that terrorists can exploit. He stressed the importance of completing security assessments before any event to ensure public safety.
Finally, Talal expressed confidence that the National Action Plan, developed with all provincial governments and political parties, will significantly reduce terrorism.
