In a major gesture of support, the Consulate General of China in Karachi has donated 38 solar-powered systems to Balochistan, covering key regions such as Kalat, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Zhob, Nushki, and Khuzdar. This initiative aims to provide clean, renewable energy to schools, hospitals, mosques, and tribal communities in remote areas, significantly improving living standards and addressing energy shortages.

The solar-powered systems will reduce dependence on unreliable power grids and provide sustainable electricity to underserved regions. The donation benefits critical sectors like education, healthcare, and religious institutions, ensuring better services for the local population.

On February 8, the Consulate General held a handover ceremony, which was attended by Yang Yundong, Consul General of China in Karachi, Sheikh Jafar Khan Mandokhel, Governor of Balochistan, and local community leaders. The event celebrated the completion of the project and highlighted the growing China-Pakistan partnership.

Yang Yundong emphasized that this donation was a demonstration of the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between China and Pakistan. He reiterated China’s commitment to supporting Balochistan’s development and stressed the strong, fraternal bond shared by both nations.

Local leaders, school officials, and religious scholars praised China for its generosity in providing solar-powered systems. They hailed the project as a symbol of enduring friendship between China and Pakistan.

“The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been instrumental in fostering economic and social development in Pakistan. This initiative is a prime example of how cooperation benefits local communities,” said Yang Yundong. He also highlighted China’s ongoing investments, including Gwadar Port, which have contributed significantly to the region’s growth.

In addition to the solar project, China’s continued efforts in Balochistan include the Gwadar China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital. It also include the Gwadar Desalination Plant, and the newly inaugurated Gwadar International Airport. These projects are transforming the region’s infrastructure, boosting economic opportunities, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
