Balochistan Launches Solar and Gas Projects to Attract Foreign Investment

Balochistan is actively pursuing solar and gas projects to attract investors through a strategic initiative led by key government officials. A high-level meeting was recently held under the joint chairmanship of Bilal Khan Kakar, Vice Chairman of the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade, and Muhammad Dawood Bazai, Secretary Energy for the Government of Balochistan. The meeting focused extensively on establishing solar plants in LIEDA and maximizing the utilization of Low BTU gas resources in Sui and Kalat.

During the meeting, Bilal Khan Kakar emphasized the government’s strong commitment to promoting sustainable energy projects through investor-friendly policies. He highlighted that LIEDA’s impressive portfolio of over 250 active industrial units creates a substantial competitive advantage for potential investors, which can be significantly amplified through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models.

Bilal Kakar further stressed that renewable energy projects, especially solar initiatives, are crucial not only for meeting industrial energy demands but also for addressing the persistent energy shortages affecting remote areas throughout Balochistan. He shared the government’s ambitious vision: “Our goal is to transform Balochistan into a central hub for energy and industrial activities. By leveraging our abundant local resources, including solar energy and Low BTU gas, we will achieve sustainable development while creating new opportunities for both domestic and international investors.”

The meeting brought together several key stakeholders from the energy sector, including Nawaz Bugti, Provincial Director of the Energy Department; Muhammad Waseem Asghar and Haider from the House of Qasib; Zubair from Solar Tech Pvt. Ltd.; and Muzaffar, who serves as a Liaison Officer from Dubai, UAE.

All participants demonstrated significant enthusiasm for the investment opportunities available in Balochistan’s energy sector and provided assurances of their complete cooperation and support for the government’s initiatives.
