Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced on Saturday that the provincial government has finalized its first-ever social media policy, set to roll out in the near future.
Speaking during a meeting with social media influencers, CM Bugti highlighted the immense power of social media, describing it as a double-edged sword that could either aid in progress or foster misinformation. He encouraged the youth to harness this tool positively by fostering a constructive view of Balochistan, promoting social harmony, and advocating for national unity.
Acknowledging the accountability and constructive criticism social media allows, CM Bugti also recognized its potential to mislead young minds. He affirmed the government’s openness to receiving positive criticism through digital platforms, viewing it as an opportunity to improve governance and address policy shortcomings identified by users.
“We are committed to turning social media into a vessel for improvement, rather than negativity,” he said, while assuring that influencers’ feedback and broader user suggestions would help shape the forthcoming policy. The policy aims to curb negative propaganda while effectively utilizing social media to create opportunities in employment, education, and public awareness.
CM Bugti emphasized the government’s focus on aligning digital policymaking with the needs of today’s digital era, ensuring social media becomes a tool for reform and progress.
