Security forces killed six terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in the Saranan area of Pishin after receiving information about the presence and movement of terrorists involved in attacks on civilians, according to reports.

The banned Baloch terrorists network, who were involved in terrorist activities in the area were killed after security personnel engaged them during the intelligence-based operation.

The operation came after armed attackers killed non-local labourers working on an under-construction road in the Saranan area of Pishin on August 24. Police reports said four labourers were killed in the initial attack, while the death toll from the separate firing incident later rose to six after an injured worker succumbed to his wounds.

According to reports on the security operation, intelligence inputs had identified the presence and movement of terrorists allegedly involved in attacks against civilians and other acts of violence in the area. Security personnel subsequently launched the operation and engaged the militants, killing six members of the network.

The operation highlights the security challenge in Pishin, where terrorists activity has increasingly affected both security personnel and civilians. The Saranan area has witnessed repeated terrorist incidents, including attacks on labourers and earlier militant activity targeting state installations.

The operation also followed heightened terrorists activity in Pishin during August. On August 20, the banned BLA claimed that its fighters had taken control of parts of Saranan and seized government buildings, although such militant claims should be treated as claims rather than independently verified facts.

Security forces have continued intelligence-led operations across Balochistan as part of the wider counter-terrorism campaign. Recent operations in Chagai, Mastung, Kharan, Washuk and other districts have targeted militant networks and resulted in significant casualties among terrorist groups.

The Pishin operation is particularly significant because it followed an attack on ordinary workers, reinforcing the government’s position that militant violence in Balochistan is not confined to attacks on security installations but also threatens civilians and economic activity.

The authorities have maintained that intelligence-based operations will continue to prevent terrorist groups from establishing operational footholds and targeting local communities.
