A tragic road accident on the Makran Coastal Highway claimed the lives of seven people on Thursday morning when a passenger coach collided with an LPG gas truck, resulting in a massive fire.
According to Edhi rescue officials, the accident occurred at around 8 a.m., and both vehicles caught fire immediately after the collision. The intensity of the blaze made rescue efforts extremely difficult, and the bodies of the victims were burned beyond recognition.
Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident and worked for several hours to recover the remains. The bodies have been shifted to the Sohrab Goth morgue in Karachi via Hub.
Among the deceased were two brothers and their nephew, identified as Shehzada, Saeed Anwar, and Inamullah, all belonging to Tank district in South Waziristan. According to family members, the victims were traveling to Karachi for daily wage work when the tragic crash occurred.
Authorities said that the identities of the remaining four victims are still being verified. The police and rescue teams have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision, which may have been triggered by high speed or mechanical failure.
The Makran Coastal Highway, connecting Karachi to Gwadar, has witnessed several fatal accidents in recent years due to poor visibility, over-speeding, and lack of proper safety measures.
Officials have urged transporters and travelers to follow traffic safety guidelines and ensure vehicle maintenance to prevent further tragedies on the vital highway.
