Pakistan security forces conduct a counterterrorism operation in the mountainous Kalat region of Balochistan
Pakistan security forces conduct a counterterrorism operation in the mountainous terrain of Kalat, Balochistan.

Security forces have killed five terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan during an ongoing counterterrorism operation in Kalat, Balochistan, according to security sources. The operation is targeting terrorist elements and their hideouts in the area as part of intensified efforts to prevent attacks and protect public security.

The operation comes amid heightened counterterrorism activity across Balochistan. Security forces have recently conducted multiple intelligence-based operations in Kalat and other districts of the province against terrorist networks. In an earlier operation in Kalat on September 2, security forces killed 12 terrorists after identifying and monitoring a terrorist hideout, according to ISPR. Ammunition and improvised explosive devices were also destroyed during that operation.

The latest operation is being conducted against terrorist elements reportedly operating in and around Kalat, with security forces continuing to search for hideouts and other members of the network. Sanitisation and clearance activities are expected to remain an important part of the operation to prevent remaining militants from regrouping or carrying out further attacks.

The development also follows reports of a separate attack targeting a Pakistan Army convoy along the Quetta–Karachi Highway in the Marjan area of Kalat district. Initial reports indicated that a powerful explosion was followed by gunfire in the area, while details regarding the nature of the incident and any casualties remained unclear at the time of reporting.

Given the lack of confirmed official details on the reported convoy incident, casualty figures and the exact nature of the attack have not been independently established and remain subject to further confirmation.

Security forces have intensified intelligence-led operations across Balochistan in recent days. On September 4, ISPR reported that 48 terrorists had been killed in multiple operations conducted over a 48-to-72-hour period in Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi. The operations included intelligence-based actions against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij elements.

The latest action in Kalat underscores the continued emphasis on intelligence-based counterterrorism operations rather than allowing terrorist networks to establish fixed positions or operate freely. Security forces have maintained that operations will continue against elements threatening peace and stability in Balochistan.

The ongoing campaign is being pursued under the broader Azm-e-Istehkam framework, with security forces and law-enforcement agencies continuing operations against terrorist networks across the province. The objective remains to disrupt terrorist infrastructure, clear affected areas and prevent further attacks against civilians, security personnel and critical transport routes.
