Security forces kill 25 terrorists in KP operations, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday, after foiling two major infiltration attempts from Afghanistan in North Waziristan and Kurram districts. The coordinated counter terrorism missions, conducted between October 24 and 25, 2025, resulted in the elimination of 25 militants — including four suicide bombers — and the recovery of a large cache of weapons and explosives, according to the military’s media wing.

“Own troops effectively engaged these groups, and as a result of precise and skilful engagements, fifteen militants — including four suicide bombers belonging to the Indian-backed outfit Fitna al-Khwarij — were eliminated in Spinwam,” the ISPR said.

Another ten militants were killed in Ghaki, Kurram, while a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from their possession.

The term Fitna al-Khwarij is the state-designated reference for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Five Soldiers Martyred

The statement added that five soldiers embraced martyrdom during intense exchanges of fire.

The fallen included:

  • Havildar Manzoor Hussain (35, District Ghizar)

  • Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kiyani (23, District Poonch)

  • Sepoy Muhammad Adil (24, District Kasur)

  • Sepoy Shah Jehan (25, District Vehari)

  • Sepoy Ali Asghar (25, District Pak Pattan)

“These brave men sacrificed their lives while defending the nation’s frontiers,” the ISPR said, adding that the security forces remain resolute in their commitment to protect Pakistan’s borders.

Infiltration Amid Ongoing Talks

The ISPR noted that the infiltration attempts took place as Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban delegations are engaged in talks in Türkiye, a development that “raises questions about the intentions of the Interim Afghan Government in addressing cross-border terrorism.”

Pakistan has repeatedly urged Kabul to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil for attacks against Pakistan, in line with the Doha Agreement.

Ongoing Counter-Terror Campaign

A sanitisation operation is currently under way in both districts to clear the area of any remaining militants.

The ISPR said that the military’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue “at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.”

Pakistan has witnessed a sharp surge in terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in 2022. Most attacks have targeted police, law enforcement agencies, and security personnel.

Last week, security forces neutralised 34 “India-backed” terrorists during multiple operations across KP, part of what officials describe as a sustained nationwide counter-terror drive.
