Security forces have killed 15 Khwarij belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna Al Khwarij who were attempting to infiltrate Pakistan through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite North Waziristan District, according to the ISPR.
According to the ISPR, the movement of a group of Khwarij attempting to cross into Pakistan was detected during the night of August 31 and September 1, 2026. Security forces responded professionally and with patience, engaging the infiltrators in a precise and skillful operation that continued for 36 hours.
As a result of the engagement, 15 Khwarij were killed, ISPR said. During the follow-up sanitisation operation, a significant quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed militants.
The military said the recovery of weapons and ammunition further exposed what it described as the nefarious designs of the Khwarij and their facilitators, who were seeking to disrupt peace and stability in the country.
ISPR highlights Afghan soil concern
The ISPR said the incident along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border once again vindicated Pakistan’s persistent stance regarding the failure of the Afghan Taliban regime to prevent the use of Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism.
The military said the Afghan Taliban regime had consistently failed to ensure effective border management and honour its international obligations. Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over militant groups operating from Afghan territory and carrying out attacks against Pakistan.
Security forces, the ISPR said, remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defending the country’s frontiers. A sanitisation operation is currently underway in the area to locate and eliminate any other Indian-sponsored Khwarij found in the vicinity.
The military further said that the counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to eliminate the threat of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
President, Prime Minister commend security forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have commended the security forces for foiling the infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near North Waziristan and killing 15 terrorists.
In his statement, President Zardari praised the security forces for their resolve to defend the country’s borders and safeguard peace and stability. He said foreign-backed terrorist elements would not be allowed to spread unrest in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to the security forces, saying they had demonstrated the highest level of professionalism, patience and courage in foiling the infiltration attempt and thwarting the designs of Fitna Al Khwarij.
The prime minister said the entire nation was proud of the armed forces for defending the country’s borders and ensuring the security of the homeland.
He reaffirmed that the Azm-e-Istehkam counterterrorism campaign would continue with full force and determination until the menace of terrorism was completely eradicated from the country.
