Security forces killed 11 terrorists and seized 2.9 tonnes of explosives during intelligence-based operations in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts, ISPR said.
Security forces killed 11 terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Balochistan’s Kharan and Washuk districts on September 6 and 7, while also recovering 2.9 tonnes of explosives intended for the preparation of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the military’s media wing said the operations were launched following reports regarding the presence of terrorists belonging to what it described as the “Indian proxy, Fitna al Hindustan.”
According to ISPR, security forces acted swiftly on September 6 after terrorists attempted to establish a roadblock in Kharan district and disrupt civilian movement. Troops intercepted the militants and engaged them in a firefight, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists.
In a separate operation conducted on September 7 in Washuk district, security forces carried out a carefully planned intelligence-based operation targeting a terrorist hideout. Following an intense exchange of fire, three more terrorists were killed.
The military said troops successfully dismantled the hideout and recovered approximately 2.9 tonnes of explosive material allegedly being used to manufacture IEDs.
ISPR stated that sanitisation operations are continuing in the area to ensure that any remaining terrorists are located and neutralised.
“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, as approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace,” the statement said.
The military reiterated its commitment to eliminating militancy and maintaining peace and stability across the country through continued operations by security forces and law enforcement agencies.
