Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir identified foreign-sponsored terrorism as the most significant threat to Balochistan’s security and development. Speaking at the 15th National Workshop Balochistan held at the General Headquarters (GHQ), he warned that attempts by hostile elements to incite violence and destabilize the province will not succeed.

COAS highlighted the government’s focus on socioeconomic development in the region, emphasizing that the scale of ongoing and planned initiatives counteracts disinformation campaigns. He pointed out that several development projects are already delivering tangible benefits to the people of Balochistan.

The COAS appreciated the role of civil society, particularly in raising awareness among the youth, and underlined their responsibility in driving progress and prosperity in the province. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism, which he described as an issue that transcends religion, sect, or ethnicity, urging unity in tackling these threats. He strongly condemned terrorist groups exploiting the Baloch identity, calling such actions a stain on the patriotism and honor of the Baloch community.

General Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and vowed to use full force to protect national prestige and public welfare against any violation of the country’s sovereignty. He assured that Pakistan’s Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies, with the full support of the nation, will persist in their fight against terrorism.

The workshop, which included parliamentarians, bureaucrats, civil society members, youth, media, and academia, concluded with a lively Q&A session between participants and senior military leadership.
