Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized the need for decisive action to combat widespread unrest in Balochistan, stating that armed groups refusing dialogue will face the full force of the state.

Addressing the Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday, just a day after the hijacking of the Jaffar Express, he highlighted the urgent need for coordinated efforts to tackle escalating violence.

Bugti asserted that they would reclaim positions that terrorist seized  through violence using force and respond with tribal, Islamic, and constitutional measures. He congratulated security forces for the successful rescue operation and said that neighboring countries fund terrorism, stressing the state’s consistent attempts at reconciliation.

He warned that anyone seeking to disintegrate the country through violence would face severe consequences. Bugti showcased examples of progress, such as providing educational opportunities for youth at elite institutions like Harvard and Oxford, while criticizing terrorist groups for their inability to hold positions for more than a few hours.

Rejecting statements that Pakistan has lost the war, Bugti defended the state, declaring that it has exercised restraint thus far. “Once war begins,” he said, “the outcome will make it clear who prevails.” He reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving issues through methods such as Jirgas but underscored the Constitution’s demand for unwavering loyalty to the state.

Additionally, Bugti revealed plans for Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Balochistan, during which he would urge the premier to call for a Jirga to resolve the ongoing crisis.

Security Briefing and Strong Condemnation

Earlier, during a meeting on law and order in light of the Jaffar Express attack, CM Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism at all costs. Briefed by Additional Chief Secretary of Home Zahid Saleem on the attack and subsequent security measures, he called for immediate and strict action against those responsible.

Condemning the attack as intolerable, Bugti stated, “The enemies of Pakistan will never succeed in weakening our nation. The government will use all its strength to eliminate them.” He stressed the importance of prompt arrests to restore public confidence and send a strong message to terrorists.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Principal Secretary to CM Baber Khan, Inspector General of Police Moazzam Jah Ansari, and Inspector General of Railway Police Rai Tahir. They discussed strategies to strengthen security measures across the province.

CM Bugti’s remarks and actions underline his government’s determination to confront terrorism head-on while remaining open to dialogue for those willing to seek peaceful solutions.
