A rocket attack targeted the Jaffar Express near the Notal area of Nasirabad district in Balochistan on Wednesday. Fortunately, the train and all passengers remained unharmed.
Attackers flee after forces’ retaliation; train and all passengers remain safe.
Police officials said unidentified assailants fired several rockets at the Peshawar-bound train as it was traveling from Quetta. The rockets exploded near the railway track, causing loud blasts but no damage to the train.
Security forces swiftly retaliated with fire, forcing the attackers to flee. The train continued its journey safely, crossing from Balochistan into Sindh without disruption. It later reached Dera Murad Jamali railway station.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation in the area to trace those responsible for the attack.
The Banned outfit, Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) have claimed responsibility for the assault.
Earlier this month, on October 7, a powerful explosion on a railway track near Shikarpur derailed five carriages of the Jaffar Express, injuring six passengers. The blast occurred near Sultan Kot Railway Station, where terrorists had targeted the passenger train traveling from Rawalpindi to Quetta.
Security experts say this latest incident reflects a growing pattern of attempts to target the Jaffar Express. A few months earlier, terrorists had attacked the same train near Sibi, killing 26 passengers and taking several others hostage before security forces conducted a successful rescue operation.
