khuzdar tragedy: Joint condemnation resolution submitted in Balochistan assembly

The Balochistan Assembly on Monday passed a unanimous resolution condemning the suicide attack on the Army Public School (APS) bus in Khuzdar. Moved jointly by opposition and treasury lawmakers, the resolution called the attack a “cowardly, brutal, and inhumane act” that deliberately targeted innocent students on their way to school.

Opposition leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri initially presented the resolution alongside Mir Saleh Rehmat Baloch of the National Party. Following suggestions from members, Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola permitted it to be converted into a joint resolution with support from all parties.

The resolution not only denounced the attack but also highlighted the broader implications on the nation’s future. It described the assault as an inhuman act aimed at disrupting peace, education, and national integrity, particularly in Balochistan. The assembly called on the provincial government to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators and their facilitators to justice.

Leaders across parties expressed grief and outrage. Mir Zehri condemned the attack, which killed 10 people, including eight students, and injured over 40. He described it as a calculated act of terror against Pakistan’s youth and its pursuit of knowledge and peace. Other lawmakers echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the broader implications on security and unity in the province.

Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Buledi accused India of being behind the attack, while ANP’s Engineer Zamrak Khan Achakzai criticized the authorities for failing to implement the national action plan. Members like Shahida Rauf of JUI-F, Kulsoom Niaz Baloch of the National Party, and others emphasized the need for unity and swift justice in the face of such atrocities.

The assembly collectively mourned one of the most tragic incidents in Balochistan’s recent history while stressing the urgency of upholding security, state authority, and the protection of innocent lives.
