An anti-terrorism court in Quetta has extended the physical remand of Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai and Bashir Ahmed by 10 days in connection with the brutal killing of Bano Bibi Satakzai and Ehsan Samalani in the Dagari mines area of Quetta district.
The incident, which occurred on June 4, was carried out on the orders of a local jirga, and a video of the event went viral recently. Initially, the suspects were remanded for two days, and upon the expiry of their remand, they were presented in court under strict security. An extension request for 15 days was made by the Serious Crimes Investigation Wing of Quetta; however, the court approved a 10-day extension.

Balochistan police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari revealed that 15 arrests have been made in connection with the case so far. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the primary suspect, Jalal, the brother of the slain woman, with law enforcement utilizing technology and conducting multiple raids to locate him.
This case has sparked widespread outrage following the viral footage of the killings and prompted significant backlash. The Balochistan Assembly has passed a joint resolution condemning the act, underscoring the growing demand for addressing such incidents with stringent measures to prevent further violence of this nature.
Additionally, the ongoing efforts by the provincial government to enhance security response mechanisms aim to foster a more stable and peaceful environment in the region.
