"Six terrorists killed in Quetta suicide attack, two FC personnel injured"

Security forces foiled a major terror bid in the provincial capital on Tuesday, killing six militants during an attempted suicide attack on Zarghoon Road, officials confirmed.

According to police sources, the incident occurred near Model Town, Pishin Stop, where a powerful explosion shattered windows of nearby buildings and spread panic across the area. The assailants, clad in Frontier Corps (FC) uniforms, attempted to storm the area in an explosives-laden vehicle but were intercepted by security personnel.

In the ensuing exchange of fire, six attackers were neutralised while two FC personnel sustained injuries. Rescue teams and police reached the site immediately, cordoning off the area and shifting the injured to hospital.

Balochistan Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman said an emergency was declared at Civil Hospital Quetta, Bolan Medical College (BMC) Hospital, and the Trauma Centre. “All consultants, doctors, pharmacists, staff nurses, and paramedical staff have been directed to remain on duty,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the attack, lauding the swift and effective response of security forces.
“Security personnel gunned down four of the terrorists on the spot. Such cowardly acts cannot weaken the nation’s resolve,” Bugti said in a statement.

He further reiterated that the sacrifices of security forces and citizens “will not go in vain” and vowed to continue efforts to make Balochistan peaceful and secure. The CM also expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs and prayed for the early recovery of the injured.

Police have launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to track down possible accomplices.
