Quetta Chamber of Commerce emphasizes trade corridors in Balochistan for regional economic growth

The Quetta Chamber of Commerce trade corridors in Balochistan were highlighted as the key to transforming the province’s economy and unlocking regional trade potential, as business leaders called for urgent government support to drive investment and employment.

Speaking at a seminar hosted by the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), QCCI President Haji Muhammad Ayub Maryani and Chairman International Overseas Economic Corridor (IOEC) Mustafa Ansari said strengthening land trade corridors in Balochistan would reshape Pakistan’s economic future and lift the province out of long-standing economic frustration.

They stressed that Balochistan’s strategic location provides Pakistan direct access to Afghanistan, Iran, Central Asian countries, and Russia, positioning the province as a critical hub for regional commerce. Strengthening the Quetta Chamber of Commerce trade corridors in Balochistan, they added, could turn the province into a major regional logistics and investment hub.

Maryani urged the federal government to introduce special tax incentives and financial concessions for Balochistan’s business community to support cross-border trade, create jobs, and attract overseas investment.

The speakers said empowering the private sector, boosting legal border trade, and encouraging overseas Pakistanis to invest through the IOEC would accelerate development across underdeveloped districts and strengthen economic linkages.

Central Traders Association President Abdul Rahim Kakar and representatives from multiple trade bodies also shared recommendations on expanding land routes and promoting regulated trade to stabilize Balochistan’s economy and increase revenue.
