Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced his commitment to transforming Quetta into a model city for environmental improvement and cleanliness that other cities can follow.
Speaking at a meeting of the Safa Quetta Integrated Solid Waste Management Project at the Chief Minister Secretariat, Sarfraz Bugti outlined ambitious plans for the provincial capital. The meeting resulted in a major decision to ban plastic bags throughout Balochistan, including Quetta.

According to project briefings, crews collect approximately 1,000 tons of garbage daily from Quetta’s 84 wards. To date, they have disposed of 281,000 tons of waste from the city and completed cleaning of 18 major drainage systems.
The plastic bag ban will not only protect our environment from pollution but also improve the city’s cleanliness and beauty, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said while directing officials to enhance the project’s effectiveness and efficiency.
He emphasized that government initiatives can only succeed with full citizen cooperation and encouraged residents to switch to eco-friendly bags instead of plastic alternatives.
