Currently, eight green buses operate in Quetta, serving over 8,000 passengers daily. The addition of 21 more green buses and 4 pink buses is expected to significantly enhance the city’s public transportation system, making it safer and more efficient for residents. The pink buses, in particular, are designed to address safety concerns and improve mobility for women, offering a secure and dignified public transport option.
Dr. Khan also mentioned plans to expand the green bus services to other cities in Balochistan, starting with Turbat, which will receive four green buses under the regional expansion strategy. He highlighted that the arrival of these new buses in June aligns with the federal and provincial budget sessions and is expected to bring positive social and environmental changes to Quetta.
This development underlines the government’s commitment to advancing sustainable urban mobility and gender-inclusive transport solutions.
