A protest organized by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) on March 21, 2025, in Quetta turned violent, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The protest, initially staged for the recovery of the bodies of terrorists killed during the Jaffer Express operation, quickly escalated as armed BYC protestors clashed with police.
According to the District Commissioner (DC) of Quetta, BYC protestors, along with armed individuals, engaged in stone-pelting and opened fire on the police. During the unrest, three people were killed by armed goons affiliated with the BYC leadership. The DC’s statement further revealed that the victims, including an Afghan national, were killed by their own associates, with the leadership fully aware of the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Civil authorities and law enforcement requested the examination of the bodies to determine the true perpetrators of the violence. However, the BYC leadership refused to hand over the bodies, despite knowing that the deaths occurred within their own group. In response to the families’ requests, the police recovered the bodies from the illegal custody of BYC supporters. The bodies were later handed over to the respective families for proper burial.
In the aftermath of the incident, authorities have booked BYC leaders and their armed supporters under relevant laws for inciting violence, attacking a civil hospital, instigating unlawful protests, and other charges. Authorities have pledged to take strict action against those responsible for the violence and lawlessness. Investigations are ongoing to hold those accountable for their role in the deadly protest.
