Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on Thursday to show solidarity with the victims of the tragic Jaffar Express hijacking and to assess the law and order situation following this event.
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and several federal ministers, including Attaullah Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, and Nawabzada Mir Khalid Magsi, the PM’s visit comes after security forces successfully kiled all 33 Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists involved in the incident.
The Jaffar Express, carrying over 400 passengers, was hijacked on Tuesday, resulting in a tense two-day operation. Pakistan’s armed forces eliminated the terrorists who coordinated with facilitators in Afghanistan via satellite phones, confirmed Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. Units from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Frontier Corps (FC), Special Services Group (SSG), and the Army played key roles in the operation.
The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt. General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has confirmed the successful completion of the Clearance Operation following the hijacking of the Jaffar Express in Balochistan. Lt. General Chaudhry told a private TV channel that the operation eliminated all 33 terrorists involved in the attack.

Lt. General Chaudhry highlighted that this operation represents a significant milestone in Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to ensuring national security and holding perpetrators accountable. Intelligence reports confirm that terrorist leaders operating from Afghanistan orchestrated the attack and communicated with the attackers throughout the incident. Pakistan has called on Afghanistan’s interim government to fulfill its responsibilities in denying its territory for such terrorist activities against its neighbor.
