Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at a grand jirga in Quetta emphasized the importance of national unity and dialogue to reintegrate those misled by extremist influences in Balochistan. “Your concerns are respected,” the premier stated, urging individuals to resolve grievances through discussions, as unity and dialogue are the keystones of collective progress.

Highlighting the destructive impact of terrorism, the Prime Minister remarked, “Terrorists know nothing but brutality, and their actions are against Pakistan’s progress.” He encouraged the nation to stand together to thwart such threats.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also outlined key financial initiatives for Balochistan, revealing that Punjab had transferred Rs11 billion from its NFC share to support the province. Furthermore, he announced that 25% of the next PSDP budget, amounting to Rs250 billion, would be allocated exclusively to Balochistan for development projects, including education and energy transitions. Notably, funds have been assigned to rebuild the Karachi-Quetta highway, formerly referred to as a “bloody highway” due to its perilous condition.

During his visit, he addressed army officers at the Command and Staff College Quetta, reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on the Indus Waters Treaty. He condemned India’s provocations, emphasizing Pakistan’s preparedness to counter any aggression diplomatically and militarily. He praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their professionalism, resilience, and recent achievements, commending leadership figures like Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar and Army Chief Field Marshal General Asim Munir.

The Prime Minister also welcomed foreign guests at the military institution, highlighting Pakistan’s enduring ties with friendly nations and praising the college’s role in shaping military leadership.

Shortly after his arrival in Quetta, PM Shehbaz was received by Acting Governor Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, concluding his day-long visit aimed at fostering development and unity within the province.
