Pakistan’s security forces have shot down four rudimentary drones launched from Afghanistan into Balochistan, with Pakistan calling out the Afghan Taliban regime for supporting terrorist outfits operating from territory under its control.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident took place on June 30, when four rudimentary drones crossed into Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan.
The military said the drones were launched by the Afghan Taliban regime as part of its alleged patronage and support for terrorist groups operating from Afghan-controlled territory.
Pakistan Neutralises Four Drones
The ISPR said Pakistan’s air defence network immediately detected the incoming aerial platforms.
“Demonstrating high operational readiness, security forces successfully neutralised all four incoming drones using sophisticated countermeasures,” the military said.
It added that the swift response prevented the drones from causing any damage and effectively thwarted what it described as a hostile attempt.
Pakistan warns Afghan Taliban of Supporting Terrorism
The military said the Afghan Taliban’s actions were aimed at misleading the Afghan population, which it described as already suffering under an oppressive regime.
According to the ISPR, instead of engaging in provocations and rhetoric, the Afghan Taliban should stop sponsoring terrorism and adhere to the principles of peaceful coexistence.
The statement warned that continued cross-border provocations would invite a strong military response.
“If the Afghan Taliban continue to provoke Pakistan, they would receive a befitting response which would cost them heavily.”
Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq
The ISPR reiterated that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty.
“Any misadventures or cross-border provocations threatening the sovereignty of Pakistan and endangering our people will continue to be met with swift, decisive, and overwhelming responses under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq,” the statement said.
Foreign Office Protest Over Karachi Rangers Attack
The development comes days after Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a demarche to the Afghan Charge d’Affaires following the terrorist attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi that martyred three Rangers personnel.
The diplomatic protest was issued after authorities determined that Afghan nationals, including one suspect who was captured alive, had participated in the attack.
Pakistan has repeatedly maintained that Afghan soil and Afghan nationals continue to be used by terrorist groups to plan and execute attacks inside the country.
The latest drone incident further adds to growing tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border as Islamabad continues to call on the Afghan Taliban authorities to prevent militant groups from using Afghan territory against Pakistan.
