
The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) have arrested 123 illegal migrants during the past two months from the Jiwani area of Balochistan, as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal cross-border movement and human smuggling.
According to official sources, the apprehended individuals were traveling illegally between Iran and Pakistan without valid travel documents or legal authorization. After initial questioning, all detainees were handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further investigation and legal proceedings.
A spokesperson for the Pakistan Coast Guards said the arrests were made while personnel were performing routine professional duties in coastal and border areas. The spokesperson reiterated that PCG remains committed to preventing illegal migration and smuggling networks operating along Pakistan’s sensitive border regions.
179 Afghan Nationals Arrested in Chagai Operations
In a separate development, security forces conducted a major intelligence-based operation in the Nokundi and Taftan areas of Chagai district, resulting in the arrest of 179 Afghan nationals who had illegally entered Pakistani territory using infrequently monitored routes.
A senior security official stated that the detainees did not possess valid travel documents. “Most of the arrested individuals were Uzbek nationals who had entered the country illegally,” the official said, adding that they were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
Border Surveillance Intensified
Officials said that patrolling and surveillance have been intensified along the Pakistan-Afghan border to prevent illegal entry, human trafficking, and other unlawful activities. Security forces are maintaining a vigilant presence in remote and high-risk border areas to disrupt smuggling routes frequently used by traffickers.
Recent Fatal Accident Involving Illegal Migrants
Last week, 11 Afghan nationals were killed and nine others injured in a tragic road accident in the Nokundi area, when an oil tanker collided head-on with a pick-up truck. According to officials, the victims were traveling illegally and were attempting to reach European countries via Iran.
Commitment Against Human Smuggling
The Pakistan Coast Guards reaffirmed their resolve to continue such operations with full consistency to eliminate the menace of human smuggling. The spokesperson emphasized that all available resources will be utilized effectively to ensure border security and prevent illegal cross-border movement.
