Pakistan’s sustained efforts to enhance dialogue on international platforms underline the importance of rallying support during such high-stakes situations. However, broader outreach plans could strengthen their position amidst a challenging geopolitical landscape.

A delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari began engagements at the United Nations on June 2, with meetings scheduled with ambassadors from 14 Security Council member states, including all five permanent members. The Pakistani team, which includes senior members like Sherry Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, and Jalil Abbas Jilani, aims to present Pakistan’s stance on the recent military confrontation with India and counter New Delhi’s narrative globally.

The delegation has engagements with the UN Secretary-General, the president of the UN General Assembly, and other ambassadors, including those from China and Russia. They will also address the United Nations Correspondents Association (UNCA) and Pakistani journalists the same evening. Additional discussions are planned with ambassadors of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries and the Non-Aligned Movement.

However, there are no disclosed meetings with American media, human rights groups, or organizations focused on combating disinformation.

Meanwhile, another delegation led by Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Syed Tariq Fatemi will visit Moscow starting June 2. These diplomatic efforts follow tensions between Pakistan and India, sparked by a terror attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir that resulted in India blaming Pakistan without presenting evidence. The conflict saw military actions, including Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which targeted Indian military installations. The confrontation ended on May 10 with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.
