A social media account operating under the name “Page 3 News Thai” has been identified as part of a coordinated disinformation network targeting Pakistan, according to an examination of account activity, technical indicators, and content patterns.
Despite presenting itself as an independent Thailand-based outlet, available evidence indicates that the account is operated from India, with repeated use of identity impersonation and coordinated amplification methods.
Impersonation and Identity Misuse
The account has repeatedly issued statements and messages under the name Mir Yar Baloch, despite no verified link between the individual and the account. The same name and messaging have appeared across multiple affiliated profiles, suggesting coordinated use of a fabricated or misappropriated identity.
Coordinated Network Activity
Investigations show that thousands of social media accounts using Baloch first and last names are actively involved in amplifying the same content. These accounts predominantly engage in retweeting and reposting identical material, with little to no original posting behavior—an indicator commonly associated with coordinated inauthentic activity.
The content circulated through this network includes unverified claims, historical distortions, and messaging aligned with anti-Pakistan narratives related to Balochistan, frequently framed as rights-based or political advocacy.
Technical Indicators
Digital traces and access patterns indicate that the “Page 3 News Thai” account is being operated from India, while routing traffic through a Thailand-based VPN, a method commonly used to mask geographic origin. This contradicts the account’s claimed location and branding.
International Messaging Campaigns
The account has recently released long-form content aimed at international audiences, repeating themes consistent with established Indian narratives on Balochistan. The timing, framing, and distribution of these messages point to a structured digital campaign rather than isolated activism.
Link to Previous Disinformation Operations
The methods observed mirror tactics exposed in the 2020 EU DisinfoLab investigation, which uncovered a large-scale Indian disinformation network involving more than 750 fake media outlets across 65 countries. That operation used the identities of defunct NGOs and deceased academics to disseminate anti-Pakistan content under the cover of human rights advocacy.
EU DisinfoLab traced the campaign to the Srivastava Group, identifying Asian News International (ANI) as a major amplifier of fabricated narratives. The operational similarities suggest continuity in disinformation strategies targeting Pakistan and Balochistan.
Based on available evidence, the claim that “Page 3 News Thai” represents an independent or authentic media platform is false. The account shows clear indicators of coordinated inauthentic behavior, identity misuse, and alignment with previously exposed disinformation networks targeting Pakistan.
