The Pakistan Army has confirmed that over 200 Taliban and allied terrorists were killed in retaliatory strikes along the Afghan border. The counter-operations followed an unprovoked attack launched by the Afghan Taliban and Indian-backed militant group Fitna al-Khawarij, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR stated that the offensive by Taliban fighters was intended to destabilize the region and spread terrorism in border areas. Pakistani forces, however, launched “timely and decisive action,” repelling the assault and inflicting heavy casualties on the attackers.
Taliban posts, camps, and training centers destroyed
According to ISPR, multiple Taliban camps, training centers, and posts across the border were targeted. The operations resulted in the destruction of 21 Taliban hideouts and the deaths of more than 200 fighters. Several others were injured during the strikes.
23 Pakistani soldiers embrace martyrdom
The Pakistan Army confirmed that 23 soldiers were martyred and 29 others injured during the clashes. ISPR emphasized that “special measures” were taken to safeguard civilians during ongoing operations.
The military spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism from the region. “Pakistan will not tolerate terrorism. Kabul must act against militant groups on its soil or face continued retaliation,” the statement warned.
Taliban-India collusion
The ISPR said that the attacks were coordinated “in collusion with the Taliban regime and India,” noting that the timing—coinciding with the Afghan Foreign Minister’s visit to India—was “provocative and a direct threat to regional peace.”
Major Taliban strongholds demolished
Security officials reported that Afghan Taliban militants attacked Pakistani posts in Badini, Kharlachi, Angor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, and Chitral. In retaliation, Pakistan deployed tanks, heavy artillery, drones, and Pakistan Air Force aircraft to neutralize enemy strongholds.
Among the destroyed Taliban installations were:
-
Manojba Camp Battalion Headquarters
-
Kharcher Fort
-
Durrani Camp
-
Turkmanzai Top
-
Ghazni Headquarters (Nushki Sector)
-
Jandosar Post
-
Shaheedan Post
Additionally, the Asmatullah Karar Camp in the Spin Boldak sector—one of the largest anti-Pakistan centers—was destroyed, while the Barikot Camp near Chitral was also demolished.
19 Afghan posts captured
videos shared online suggest that Pakistani forces captured 19 Afghan posts that were being used to launch attacks on Pakistani territory. Security sources said several Afghan Taliban and affiliate terrorists were killed, and large caches of weapons and military equipment were seized.
