High-level meeting in Quetta between Balochistan government and opposition leaders results in agreement to release detained political workers and withdraw cases to promote political harmony.
Balochistan leaders reach consensus on releasing detained political workers and ensuring peaceful protests through cooperation and adherence to SOPs.

The Balochistan government and opposition parties have agreed to release detained political workers and withdraw cases registered across the province. The decision was reached during a high-level meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office in Quetta on the directive of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Khan Bugti.

The government delegation was represented by Provincial Ministers Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, and Bakht Mohammad Kakar, with Zamarak Khan Achakzai participating as a mediator.

The opposition delegation included key leaders from various political parties: Advocate Sajid Khan Tareen, Akhtar Hussain Langove, and Agha Hassan Baloch from the Balochistan National Party (BNP); Talimand Khan, Majeed Khan Achakzai, and Kabir Khan Afghan from the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP); National Party Chairman Aslam Baloch and Changez Hai Baloch; Asghar Khan Achakzai, Rasheed Khan Nasir, and Wali Dad Miani from the Awami National Party (ANP); Advocate Salam Agha and Malik Faisal Dehwar from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI); Zahid Akhtar Baloch and Jameel Ahmed Mishwani from Jamaat-e-Islami; and Maulana Vilayat Hussain and Muhammad Younis from Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM), among others.

As a goodwill gesture, the government announced the immediate release of detained political activists and the withdrawal of all cases filed across Balochistan. This step aims to foster political harmony and facilitate peaceful democratic engagement in the province.

It was also agreed that the opposition parties will coordinate with district administrations to organize rallies and processions in accordance with comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The opposition leaders assured the administration that all protests will remain peaceful, and public property will be fully protected.

The opposition pledged to fully respect the law and ensure that no violent or disruptive incidents occur during demonstrations. All political activities will be carried out in strict compliance with the agreed SOPs.

The meeting was also attended by Quetta Division Commissioner Shahzeb Khan Kakar and Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Captain (R) Mehar Ullah Badini.
