Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police are continuing their joint counter terrorism campaign, Operation Shahban, launched in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam Police Station.
According to security sources, the operation has intensified in the rugged mountainous areas of Balochistan, where security forces have tightened the cordon around terrorist hideouts. Ground assaults and aerial operations are continuing simultaneously to target the remaining terrorists.
Security sources said that 26 terrorists had already been killed during operations conducted on July 6 and 7. Over the past 24 hours, security forces have neutralized 13 more terrorists, bringing the total number of terrorists killed during Operation Shahban to 39.
Khuzdar Police Station Attack Repulsed
Security sources further stated that terrorists attempted to attack a police station in the Zehri area of Khuzdar on Friday morning. The assault was successfully repelled through a swift response by Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps troops.
According to the sources, eight terrorists were confirmed killed during the engagement. Reports also indicate that an additional five to six terrorists were eliminated during follow-up helicopter operations conducted in the area.
Total Terrorist Death Toll Reaches 75 Since July 5
Security sources said that, when combined with other intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out since July 5, the total number of terrorists killed has reached 75.
The joint operation involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and Balochistan Police remains ongoing, with security forces continuing search-and-clearance operations aimed at eliminating terrorist networks operating in the region.
Officials said security operations will continue until the area has been completely cleared of terrorist presence.
Operation Shahban was launched following the coordinated terrorist attack on the Mangi Dam Police Station in Balochistan on July 5, which marked the beginning of a series of major terrorist incidents in the province.
In the days that followed, terrorists also carried out attacks in Ziarat and targeted security personnel near Mangi Dam, prompting an extensive counterterrorism response by security forces.
The ongoing counter terrorism operations follow the high-level Balochistan Apex Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Quetta on 9th July, where the country’s civil and military leadership reviewed the province’s security situation after the recent wave of terrorist attacks.
The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism, directed all security and law enforcement agencies to intensify intelligence-based operations under the National Action Plan (NAP), strengthen coordination among institutions, and ensure that terrorist networks and their facilitators are dismantled. Following the committee’s directives, Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and Balochistan Police have expanded Operation Shaban, with ground and aerial operations continuing in multiple areas of the province.
