Pakistan’s Senate of Pakistan on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Balochistan, while the federal government firmly ruled out any negotiations with militant groups.
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah told the Senate that the state would not hold talks with “terrorists operating at the behest of hostile forces.” He urged all political parties to unite against terrorism, support security institutions, and honour the sacrifices of victims and security personnel.
Sanaullah dismissed narratives portraying militants as “disgruntled groups,” saying the pattern of violence reflected organised terrorism rather than isolated criminal incidents. He cited repeated incidents where militants allegedly stopped passenger buses, checked identity cards, and executed civilians — including women and children — as well as attacks on trains such as the Jaffar Express.
“These are acts of extreme brutality that no cause can justify,” he said, adding that terrorists would be dealt with “without any ambiguity.”
Resolution Calls for Investigation and Stronger Security
The resolution, moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, called for a transparent and swift investigation into the attacks and demanded that perpetrators, facilitators, and any local or foreign sponsors be brought to justice.
It also urged federal and provincial authorities to strengthen intelligence coordination, border management, and counter terrorism capacity, particularly in Balochistan. Lawmakers reiterated that sustainable peace required not only security operations but also socio-economic development, good governance, and protection of constitutional rights.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also blamed India for the violence, claiming the attacks were “planned and coordinated” with external support. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said security forces responded swiftly and prevented further damage.
National Resolve Reaffirmed
The Senate resolution concluded with a pledge that “the unity of the state and the will of the people will prevail over all forces of violence and extremism.” Lawmakers across party lines expressed solidarity with victims’ families and reaffirmed commitment to peace, development, and political inclusion in Balochistan.
