The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning that a new rain system is expected to enter Balochistan on August 22, bringing heavy rainfall to several parts of the province from August 23 to 26.

According to the Met Office, heavy downpours are likely in Barkhan, Musakhel, Harnai, Loralai, Duki, Sibi, Zhob, Sherani, Khuzdar, Surab, Awaran, Kalat, Kachhi, Lasbela, Hub, and Kech districts.

The department has also warned of potential flash floods in local streams and rivers due to intense rainfall.

So far, 22 people have lost their lives and 11 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across the province. The casualties have been caused by roof collapses, lightning strikes, and people being swept away by floodwaters.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 83 houses have been damaged — 69 partially and 14 completely. The report further states that 357 solar panels were destroyed, while four government buildings also sustained damage due to the torrential rains and subsequent flooding.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and move to safer locations as a precaution. Emergency services and relevant departments have been placed on high alert, and relief operations are underway in the affected areas.
