BNP's Malik calls on Nawaz to play role in solving Balochistan's issues

Nawaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), held a meeting with Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, a leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), where he committed to taking an ‘active role’ in tackling the challenges faced by Balochistan.

The BNP delegation present at the meeting included former Secretary General Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi, MNA Pullain Baloch, BNP Vice President and former MNA Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai, Provincial President Aslam Baloch, Central Vice President Shahwaz Khan Bizenjo, and BNP Punjab President Malik Ayub.

During their discussion, Dr. Baloch provided the former three-time Prime Minister with an overview of the current circumstances in Balochistan, particularly highlighting the recent surge in detentions and ongoing protests. After the meeting, Dr. Baloch informed the media that they had engaged in a comprehensive dialogue regarding the issues plaguing Balochistan.

“I urged Nawaz Sharif to take an active political stance for Balochistan, and he assured me of his commitment,” he stated. Dr. Baloch, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Balochistan, extended an invitation to Nawaz Sharif to visit the province and engage with local political figures. “Nawaz expressed his readiness to make the visit, which is anticipated to occur soon,” he noted.

He underscored that the challenges in Balochistan are fundamentally political and necessitate political resolutions. “We vehemently condemn the killings of innocent individuals in Balochistan,” he asserted. Reflecting on Nawaz’s proactive involvement during his tenure in 2013, Dr. Baloch expressed optimism that Nawaz would maintain a similar level of engagement in the future. “We conveyed to Nawaz that his involvement is vital for addressing the situation in Balochistan,” he concluded.
