Quetta police have recovered the body of 14-year-old Muhammad Musawir Kakar, who was kidnapped for ransom on November 15, 2024. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya confirmed the recovery on Friday, revealing chilling details of the case.

The investigation uncovered the involvement of Afghan nationals working with local accomplices. The boy was eventually handed over to the extremist group Daesh (IS), which demanded a $12 million ransom from the family.

After the ransom was not paid, the kidnappers tragically killed Musawir, burying his body in Mastung’s Maro Isplinji area. Police located the grave, and the postmortem report confirmed the boy was shot in the chest and head. His identity was verified through DNA testing.

DIG Goraya expressed regret over the inability to rescue the boy alive, despite extensive operations to track the kidnappers. “We are deeply sorry for not being able to ensure his safe recovery. However, we have killed key criminals involved and arrested facilitators who provided logistical and technical support,” he said.

The investigation employed advanced techniques, tracing phone calls made from Afghan and Iranian numbers, which helped locate the hideouts. On November 20, 2024, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Frontier Corps raided a militant stronghold in Dasht. During the operation, one militant detonated explosives, injuring personnel but ultimately leading to critical breakthroughs in the case. Police also recovered the vehicle used in the kidnapping shortly after the incident.

Authorities continue to pursue remaining leads to dismantle the network behind this heinous crime.

In a heartfelt statement, Chief Minister Bugti expressed his deep sorrow on the murder of innocent child Masoor Kakar, stating, “I do not just want to condemn the murder of Masoor Kakar. I consider it my responsibility to bring those involved in this incident to justice.”

The Chief Minister revealed that for the past seven months, the Government of Balochistan had been working tirelessly to secure Masoor’s safe return. Despite their efforts, the child fell victim to a horrific crime that has shaken the entire country.

In response to the tragedy, the government has mobilized all state machinery to track down those responsible. “Some of the terrorists involved have already been sent to hell, and the noose is tightening around others,” said Bugti, emphasizing their commitment to holding all perpetrators accountable.
