Section 144 enforced in Balochistan to prevent flood damage during monsoon rains
Section 144 enforced in Naseerabad and Sibi to safeguard lives and infrastructure during monsoon rains.

The Balochistan Home Department has announced stringent safety measures in light of the ongoing monsoon rains and the threat of potential floodwaters. Section 144 has been imposed in the Naseerabad and Sibi divisions to protect human lives, property, and agricultural systems.

The notification strictly prohibits cutting or damaging canals, water streams, headworks, and embankments. Weakening protective embankments or interfering with government measures will be considered a criminal offense. Strict legal action will be taken against those establishing illegal temporary or permanent barriers.

Use of machinery on canals and embankments without permission is banned. Unauthorized occupation, including setting up makeshift shops or livestock enclosures, will also face stringent action. Additionally, unauthorized boating and swimming are prohibited.
Any attempts to divert or alter the flow of canal or floodwater are completely banned. Violators will be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and will face severe penalties under the Balochistan Canal and Drainage Ordinance 1980.

The Home Department has directed the police, levies, and irrigation departments to ensure immediate enforcement. District administrations have been instructed to identify weak embankments and install warning boards.

This order will remain in effect for 46 days, with provisions for extension or modification based on prevailing conditions. The Home Department has urged the public to cooperate with these safety measures to prevent loss and damage.
