Miranshah Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali was among four individuals martyred after their official vehicle came under attack in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday. Two police personnel and a civilian were also killed in the ambush, while two other officers sustained injuries.

Bannu Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sajjad Khan confirmed the casualties, stating, “The attack was sudden. The assailants opened fire on the vehicle and subsequently set it ablaze.” Authorities cordoned off the area and launched a search to locate the attackers.

Security forces and police are conducting a joint operation in the area, which has been placed on high alert. Investigations are ongoing from multiple angles to determine the perpetrators.

According to Bilal Saqib, the assistant commissioner’s secretary, the incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. near Mamash Khel’s Masoomabad while Shah Wali was en route to appear before a local court.

Miranshah, the administrative headquarters of North Waziristan district, lies adjacent to Bannu. This attack follows a series of recent incidents targeting law enforcement, including a suicide bombing and gun attack in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts that claimed the lives of two police personal and injured five others.

In July, a separate roadside bomb in Bajaur’s Sadiqabad area killed an assistant commissioner and a tehsildar among five victims, while 17 others, including police personnel, were injured, highlighting the persistent threat to government officials in the region.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring security and bringing the perpetrators of these attacks to justice.
