Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has formally become the Chief of the Bugti tribe following the completion of a traditional turban-tying (dastarbandi) ceremony held in Dera Bugti.
The ceremony, conducted today in the Bekar area, marked Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s official induction into the tribal role after a unanimous decision by Bugti tribal elders. With the completion of the ritual, he now assumes responsibilities as the eighth Chief of the Bugtis under the tribe’s customary system.
Senior tribal chiefs, elders, and notables from across the Bugti confederation attended the event. Chiefs from the Shambani, Kalpar, Mundrani, Piruzani, Nothani, and Domb clans participated, reflecting broad tribal consensus.
Tribal elders said the selection was made in accordance with long-standing Bugti traditions and expressed confidence that Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s leadership would strengthen unity, stability, and continuity of tribal customs.
Following the ceremony, Mir Sarfraz Bugti addressed the gathering and thanked tribal elders for their confidence, reaffirming his commitment to uphold tribal traditions and serve the Bugti people.
