Militants Lay Down Arms in Balochistan
Pakistan’s security forces have achieved a major success in Balochistan as dozens of militants surrendered under the ongoing Operation Radd-ul-Fitna, marking a significant step toward restoring peace and stability in the province.
Security sources confirmed that a group led by Merik Khan Chakrani, comprising 25 militants, criminals, and armed robbers, voluntarily surrendered before security forces. The group handed over a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition during the surrender process.
Group Involved in Extortion and Armed Robberies
The surrendered group was involved in multiple incidents of armed robbery, extortion, and criminal activities in different parts of the region. The surrender followed sustained intelligence-based operations and engagement efforts by security agencies, supported by local administration and tribal elders.
Merik Khan Chakrani, described as a key figure within the group, announced his decision to join the “Chakrani Aman Force,” stating that the move aims to counter extremist elements and contribute to lasting peace in the area.
Operation Radd-ul-Fitna Gains Momentum
Security officials termed the development a major milestone in Operation Radd-ul-Fitna, a nationwide counterterrorism initiative focused on dismantling militant networks through intelligence-led operations, reconciliation, and reintegration into the national mainstream.
Authorities said such surrenders demonstrate growing pressure on militant groups operating in Balochistan and reflect increasing public support for peace and stability.
Earlier Surrender Dealt Blow to BRA
In a related development, more than 100 militants, including senior Baloch Republican Army (BRA) commander Noor Ali Chakrani, surrendered in Dera Bugti in December 2025, formally renouncing militancy and joining the national mainstream.
Analysts described the move as a critical setback for the BRA, which has already been weakened by internal divisions and earlier defections.
Decline in Militant Networks
Security analysts believe the return of the Chakrani tribe to the national fold has further isolated militant organizations, signaling what observers describe as a near-collapse of the BRA’s influence in parts of Balochistan.
Experts say these developments are likely to encourage other armed groups in the province to reconsider their stance and abandon violence.
Intelligence-Based Operations to Continue
Officials said the scope of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) continues to expand across Balochistan, with expectations that more individuals linked to extremist groups may surrender in the coming weeks.
Despite persistent security challenges, authorities reaffirmed that the primary objective of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna remains the restoration of peace, state writ, long-term stability, and development across the province.
